How can the EU help combat human trafficking and prostitution

On 18th March 2010, Marina Yannakoudakis MEP (Conservative Party) came to a talk organised by UCL European Society and the Young European Movement.

Marina presented the topic and how her work affects the decisions taken. She introduced information and which topics the European Parliament were currently discussing.

After this introduction, the floor was opened for questions and solutions were discussed. Marina informed us how she was visiting local institutions and speaking with those affected. She said that particularly in London, human trafficking and (forced) prostitution was a big problem but also pointed to the problem of organ donation.

A heated discussion came up on compulsary donation until we ran out of time. Overall, the students and young professionals who attended the event were impressed by the topic.

Marina Yannakoudakis was elected to the European Parliament in June 2009 and is represented in the EP as part of the Conservative Party - ECR group. She is the only MEP representing the Conservative Party in London.
